Biography - Gary L. Schmidt, M.D.
Dr. Schmidt was born and raised in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree at the Pennsylvania State University. From there, he atttended medical school at The Pennsylvania State University College of Medicine in Herhsey, PA. Dr. Schmidt then spent the next five years at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh where he completed a surgical internship and a residency in orthopedic surgery. He was then awarded a fellowship in spinal surgery at the Orthocarolina Spine Center in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Dr. Schmidt has published multiple scientific articles on various topics within the realm of orthopaedic surgery. He has given oral presentations both nationally and internationally to many scientific groups including the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons, the Eastern Orthopedic Association, the European Cervical Spine Research Society, the Pennsylvania Orthopaedic Society and many others.
Dr. Schmidt is certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery and is a Diplomat of the American Board of Spine Surgery. Dr. Schmidt remans active in clinical practice. Dr. Schmidt is a member of the North American Spine Society and the International Society for the Advancement of Spine Surgery.
